From April 2017 a new tax regime will be introduced. Under the system, road tax (also known as car tax, Vehicle Excise Duty or VED) rates will now be based on vehicle emissions AND list price.
Applying to all new cars registered on or after April 1, 2017, many previously tax exempt cars will now have to pay up. The only vehicles that will be free to tax will be zero emission cars that cost less than £40,000.
Bizarrely, buyers of economical small cars and hybrids will face the biggest tax hike – in some cases, more than nine times what they’re paying now.
Read on to find out the only cars that will be road tax exempt cars from April 2017…READ MORE
The NEW Awaited 2017 VW Golf is finally available to order tomorrow (February 2017).
Ok, The exterior of the VW Golf may not have had a massive transformation but the current model is not exactly outdated, little tweaks here and there help keep the NEW VW Golf looking great and competing with some of the recently revamped hot hatches.
Noticeable changers are a wider front, LED headlamps, and more pronounced features.
The inside is where most of the “Face-lift” has occurred. Whilst trying to keep driver distraction to a minimum Volkswagen have introduced “Gesture control” rather than rows and rows of buttons. If “Virtual Cockpit” Rings any bells with you then it’s safe to say that VW’s new infotainment system with its larger screen mirrors that of Audi’s Virtual Cockpit. It really does take pride and joy firmly in the center of the cabin. An impressive 12.3 inch digital monitor is a cost option which replaces the more traditional dials.
Lane Assist which does exactly what it says on the tin, helps keep the car central to the lines and motions you if the vehicle starts to stray away from the center.
Traffic Jam Assist, helps drivers from having rear collisions by using the clever technology of ADC Automatic Distance Control.
The entry level Golf starts from £17,625 which is actually £500 cheaper than the equivalent run-outmodel.
With the controversy surrounding Volkswagen's emission “scandal” in 2015 Volkswagen have focused on improving their emissions.
A 7-Speed (DSG) Gearbox will eventually replace all 6 Speed (DSG’s)
An all-new 1.5 litre petrol engine will also be available within the range.
Personal Volkswagen Lease rates will be available shortly and vehicles are expected to be seen on the road within the next few months.
For VW Personal Leasing or VW Business Lease offers please feel free to contact one of our sales team who will only be too happy to provide you with a quotation when rates are released.READ MORE

Unsure of the new VED Car Tax System taking effect in April? Check out the below.
As most of us are aware the new VED changes will take effect April 1st, but what exactly does this mean to you?
Should you buy a car now? Or wait until 1st of April. This all depends on the car your considering buying.
George Osbourne, our former Chancellor of the Exchequer set about changing our current car tax system due to the fact most NEW cars today are paying very little if any road tax which is obviously costing the Treasurer millions and millions.
Like always, these changes will affect us… the consumer. The new VED system means one thing, higher Road tax rates for the first year of registration, with a base rate of £140 for most cars.
A staggering amount of petrol, diesel or low-emission cars have previously been exempt from tax, this will all change with the new VED system and the only except cars under the new scheme will be Electric or Hydrogen cars, basically no tailpipe vehicles.
There will be a new 5 year supplement for any car exceeding £40,000 this is set at £310.
Remember, this only applies to cars that are purchased after April, any previous registrations will not be effected by the changes.
So after all that waffle, waffle, waffle…….Looking at the overall changes, it stands to reason that the people who will be effected most are the economical car buyer, the low C02 searcher, the green finger chap, the mummy school runner, basically the likes of you and I. so, it’s no longer as cost effective to try and save our planet, not unless you want to pay the extravagant on the road costs for an Electric or Hydrogen Car.
But alas………you could always consider leasing? With leasing, your road fund license is paid for throughout the duration of the contract, don’t get me wrong, you’re paying for it somewhere but at least that’s one yearly bill you can forget about.

The All New Audi A5 has been revealed – The Coupe version will arrive in November 2016, and the Sportback is set to follow in January 2017.
Looking between the lines, it’s quite apparent that Audi have designed their brand new Audi A5 with the all New Audi A4 in mind.
Designer Frank Lamberty has stated “The most important difference with the new A5 is the nose, as there is now a clear differentiation between the A4 and A5. The headlights are a little bit higher, and A4 has a sharper, cleaner look. The A5 is more of an emotional design”
The rear will have narrower LED lights and the braking light now sits across the top of the windscreen.
The Audi S5 will also have a rear diffuser along with the impressive “Vier” (4 in German) tailpipes
The Audi A5 will be available in one petrol engine and three diesels. The Petrol being a 2.0 Litre TFSi engine with 188bhp and the diesels being a 2.0 TDi or a 3.0 TDi there will also be an “Ultra” variant amongst the mix.
The 7 Speed Autos will be available in the 2.0 Litre 4 Cylinders, the Audi S5 and the 3.0 engines will all come with an eight speed tiptronic gearbox.
Inside the Audi A5 is where you see the real resemblance to the New Audi A4

2016 Top Ten Selling Cars, so far…….
As we speedily approach the end of Quarter 2 and just before entering into Quarter 3, let’s reflect on what has been the top selling cars of 2016 so far……
The Ford Fiesta……With over 52,476 registrations so far, it’s not surprising that yet again it sits on the very top of the list, this popular hatchback is a pure contender and is thousands above its nearest rivals – Check out our Ford Lease deals on the Ford Fiesta.
The Vauxhall Corsa, has slipped between second and third place in 2015 and now sits quite comfortably in second place with 33,519 sales since the start of the year. Vauxhall’s standard level of specification is great, and running costs are low. This second place does not surprise me, with cheap Vauxhall lease rates available at present on the Vauxhall Corsa Sting 1.4 Sting 3dr
The Ford Focus, continuing 2016 with where it left in 2015, third place. Ford really are top of the charts at present. 31,882 registrations so far to date for this stylish family hatchback.
The Volkswagen Golf, in my opinion one of the best hatchbacks in its class, it sets a standard for all other manufacturers of hatchbacks and has been one of the bestselling hatchbacks since it was first introduced in the 1970’s – That’s older than me! 30,802 registrations to date make this German beauty sit at number 4. Volkswagen Leasing is very popular, with high residual values on most models leasing a Golf does not break the bank!
The Nissan Qashqai – Having personally Leased a Nissan Qashqai and usually being more familiar with Executive German cars such as Mercedes Benz, Audi, and BMW Leases I was pleasantly surprised by how well made the Nissan Qashqai was, the drive was great, the fuel economy and the level of specification was fantastic, I’m quite pleased that she (or he) comes in at number 5, 27,824 registrations to date so far.
The Volkswagen Polo – The MK5 has actually been on sale since 2009 so it’s great to see it still within the top ten, Volkswagen Polo Lease rates have been very competitive so far this year, with fantastic Lease rates on the VW Polo 1.2 Match and 1.4 Match and the 1.8 GTi – 23,070 registrations to date.
The Vauxhall Astra - Stays within the top ten for good reason. The New British built Mk7 was only released in 2015 thanks to efficient engines gives this Vauxhall Astra its place at number 7 – 22778 registrations so far….
The Audi A3 – Sails in at number 8 despite the fact production stopped for a short while specification was adjusted, this one is my favourite and quite possible one of the leading premium luxury hatchbacks on the market, in competition with the BMW 1 Series, and the Mercedes A Class, with its superior interior and quality. A Leading premium family hatchback. Audi A3 Lease rates have just been reintroduced again. Pay attention to the A3 1.4TFSi Sport Leases currently available. 19147 registrations to date.
The Vauxhall Mokka in at number 9. If you’re not too bothered by drive quality and you concentrate more on the standard level of equipment accompanied by good looks, then this is the one for you – 18106 registered to date.
The Mini just scrapped into the top ten, with over 3,780 cars being sold in May alone. Total registrations so far are 18,009 Sales have increased since the introduction of the five door model which is proving very popular and extremely practical.READ MORE

The eagerly awaited Mercedes C-Class Cabriolets doors are finally open to orders, with deliveries taking place from September 2016.
Following in line with the Mercedes C-Class Coupe the engine choices are virtually the same, with the entry level 1.6 Litre four cylinder petrol engine. Likewise with much of the C-Class range there will be two diesel engines, the C220d which is a modest 2.1 engine fuelled with 177bhp followed by the C250d which again has the 2.1 engine but a higher bhp of 201 getting you from 0-62mph in just 7.2 seconds.
The canvas roofed Convertible is the final C-Class to arrive from the completely updated C-Class range.
Mercedes describes the new car as “modern luxury with a youthful touch” I have a tendency to agree.
The C-Class cabriolet is almost identical to the C-Class Coupe apart from the obvious, the roof…comes in black as standard, you can also choose from dark red, dark brown or dark blue. The roof takes just 20 seconds to open or close at speeds of up to 30mph which is pretty nifty considering our unpredictable good old weather.
Like most of the Mercedes range there are upgrade packages available.
Premium Plus Pack – Providing you with Mercedes Comand Navigation system and 13-speaker Burmester Surround Sound (great when the roofs down)
Driving Assistance Package – Lane keeping assist, Blind spot amongst other features that keep pedestrians and occupants safe.
The all New Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet Lease rates will appear on our website soon, be sure to check them out!
UVL give the C-Class Cabriolet a thumbs up!

Ingolstadt, April 22, 2016 – In the spirit of ‘never standing still’ which is a key tenet of Vorsprung durch Technik, Audi is making some detail changes to its executive class A6 and A7 Sportback ranges. Carefully considered styling refinements enhance the perennially popular A6 Saloon and Avant lines, while all models benefit from interior upgrades and new equipment. UK order banks for the latest A6 and A7 Sportback models and their S and RS counterparts will open in May and deliveries will start in the summer.
The basis for the newly updated A6 and A6 Avant ranges is a new SE Executive specification level, which replaces the entry level SE option available up to this point. It ushers in a new, bolder look courtesy of a new front apron incorporating more pronounced air inlets with gloss black horizontal struts, more sculpted side sills and a restyled rear bumper now housing a new diffuser at its lower edge.
The already more sporting stance struck by the S line and top flight Black Edition models has also been subtly enhanced by a new radiator grille with a matt black surround and chrome slats flanked by striking side air inlets also fringed with chrome.
Compatibility with the latest Audi connectivity and entertainment options is the headline news in the updated interiors of the A6 and A7 Sportback models. The Audi smartphone interface is now available for both models in combination with the optional Technology Pack, bringing Apple Car Play and Android Auto to the car.
If an iOS or Android smartphone is connected to the USB port (iOS from 7.1, Android from 5.0 Lollipop), the handset‘s contents such as navigation, phone, music and selected third party apps are offered in a separate MMI menu. They can be accessed conveniently by MMI or voice control. The Audi phone box feature that was already a part of the pack has also taken a step forward – as before it connects smartphones to the on?board antenna by near-field coupling, but it now also offers the added convenience of inductive charging of compatible handsets (to Qi standard).
Detail upgrades to the standard equipment lists have also been made across the A6, A7 Sportback, S6 and S7 Sportback and A6 allroad ranges, starting with the addition of LED interior lighting, front seat heating, electric lumbar adjustment and elegant Aluminium Ellipse inlays for A6 SE Executive models over and above the previous SE specification.
At the pinnacle of the range, the 560PS RS 6 and RS 7 Sportback and their even more powerful 605PS RS 6 performance and RS 7 Sportback performance counterparts are now available in an expanded palette of matt effect colours including Sepang Blue, Nardo Grey, Glacier White and Floret Silver.
Equipment highlights for every A6 and A7 Sportback model already include bi-xenon or all-LED headlamps with LED tail lights, acoustic front glazing, full leather upholstery, MMI navigation, deluxe four-zone climate control, the Audi Music Interface channelled through the 180-watt Audi Sound System and various versions of the Audi parking system.
All at sixes and sevens – The Audi A6 and A7 Sportback ranges, starting at SE Executive level and rising to the mighty 605PS RS performance variants, have benefited from detail improvements which further enhance their visual appeal and comfort.

Audi A4 information: everything you need to know if you own it, are thinking of buying one or just want to find out more about Audi's compact executive.
The A4 chases BMW's 3-series and Merc's C-class for the compact exec crown. It's available as a four-door saloon and a five-door Avant, as well as a wellies-and-raincoat Allroad.
60sec road test
We've never been big fans of the A4 range, but have to admit - reluctantly - that it has improved with age. Some cars are constantly fettled by their makers through middle age and that's the case here. Traditionally, Audi's compact exec is a stodgy handling, unresponsive pup, but we've sampled a few late-edition models which have made us reappraise that view. It now rides reasonably well (just don't go bananas with the wheel choices and beware the S-Line trim with its unrelenting sports suspension) and even the handling and steering responses seem sharper than we remember them. But let's be realistic; a 3-series or C-class will run rings around this model. What a great dollop of honing hasn't been able to fix is the antiquated infotainment system, which betrays the car's age. The whole interior feels a step or two behind the latest Audi cabins, looking cheaper and older than the cockpits of even the more humble A1 or A3, never mind the space-age Merc rival. This will be addressed with 2015's new A4 model, however. The Avant is a classy, roomier option that the saloon while the A4 Allroad is a typical soft-roader estate with extra body cladding, a raised ride height and other SUV accoutrements if that's your thing.
